Floating on the river

If (Proud) Mary was rollin' on the river this dude was floating on the river

Reading a cake

Today in Germany is Pfingstmontag (Whit Monday) that comes after the Pfingsten or in english language Pentecost (is a feast in the Christian liturgical year commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Christ after the Resurrection of Jesus, it is also called Whit Sunday).
Once at two years in Catholic Church they perform Firmung (Confirmation) on Pfingstmontag for the young catholics that passed over Communion and are older than 15 (Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments through which catholics pass in the process of their religious upbringing. According to Catholic doctrine, in this sacrament they receive the Holy Spirit and become adult members of the Catholic Church). This event is very important in catholic families and somehow marks the end of your childhood because this time you renew the baptismal promises made by your godparents and is supposed that now you are mature enough to take responsibility for your actions.
I participated today at a Confirmation and at the after-party and I have remembered mine and the feeling that you rule the world and now you are a man, an adult and you can be on your own way. I miss those times … and now I understand why my parents were so proud.
And … long talk is boring … I like to read this kind of books baked in Bayern :D

Nice surprise

A nice surprise or how I met Olly de Quartz

I was lucky enough to be at the right pub at the right time to discover a new band that captured my ears and filled my heart with joy. Usually I am not easily impressed by live bands in pubs mainly because I don't care what is happening while I enjoy my beer as long as my ears are not scared by the monster that performs on stage, there are few bands that captured my attention. I can recal 5 bands from pubs but none of them made me lose my last tram!
Yeah, I've lost my last tram but I enjoyed it!
They are quite interesting, I was impressed by what they can do with two guitars and one drum (not even the full drum set). At the beginning I was quite "what the fuck they are doing?" they were singing a cover but it was far from the original and I was used to hear only pure covers - german cover bands try to be better than the original (e.g. I was at an 3+ hour concert - AC/DC cover band and I can say for sure that they were better than the original when performing live). After my first shock of "wtf mate!?!?" I started to enjoy the personal touch added to the songs and a different flavor for each song, after all this is what should be a cover not a perfect replica. Well, I've remembered good old times when I prefered to listen a punk cover than a band struggling to sound 100% like The Beatles when I couldn't see any John Lennon on stage. While I was getting used with the new sound I had time to drink some beers and look closer at the band.
First one who catched my attention was their drummer, not very often you see a female drummer and more important a good one, I'm not a musician or a music expert but my ears are and she is good in what she is doing (of course I can't compare her with Mike Terrana, Lars Ulrich, Phil Collins but she has it - and is not nice to compare).
The second one that catched my attention was their guitarist, I'm not into dudes but I liked him (what he was doing) I suspect that the Les Paul guitar had its merit but you need to know what to do with it to sound good and he knows how to play it and I have seen some interesting techniques.
The last but not the least - leading vocals and guitar, their frontman (in this case frontwoman) that showed that she can play also with other instruments (harmonica, flute, bass guitar) and has an interesting voice.
I enjoyed their concert and I wanted to share my experience and to advertise them because they are good - their name - Olly de Quartz.

Here are some youtube videos of their songs
